A hollow WPC door does not have to be ordered in only one internal configuration. Depending on the selected profile and production arrangement, buyers can discuss foam filling, timber reinforcement or acoustic wool with the factory. The useful question is not simply “Can you make it solid?” It is “What do we want the internal configuration to achieve?”

Start with the hollow WPC profile

Shenghao offers WPC interior door leaves in 40 mm and 45 mm options. The outer thickness describes only part of the construction: chamber layout, profile wall thickness, fixing zones and any added material also matter. A filled hollow profile remains a different construction from a solid WPC slab. Filling does not turn one into the other.

For a quotation, identify the chosen door model first. Ask the supplier to show a section or sample and explain where the filling or reinforcement will be placed. This is clearer than describing the whole order as “heavy duty” without a drawing.

Foam filling: define the material and its purpose

Foam is an optional internal filling to discuss where the project calls for a filled construction. Confirm the proposed foam type, the areas to be filled and the finished leaf weight. Different foams and production methods should not be treated as interchangeable.

Ask for a sample built using the proposed process. Check the surface, edges and hardware preparation after production. Do not assign a fire rating, insulation value or sound reduction figure from the word “foam” alone; those are properties to verify for the particular finished assembly.

Timber reinforcement: focus on hardware locations

Timber pieces can be discussed as an internal reinforcement option where appropriate for the chosen door construction. Clarify their positions rather than assuming the entire leaf is timber filled. Hinge positions, lock preparation and other fixing zones should follow the approved factory detail.

Record the required hardware before production. A later change of lock body or hinge position may move a fixing away from the intended reinforcement. Agree on how the door will be prepared and which alterations are permitted on site. The condition and suitability of the reinforcement should also be confirmed for the intended environment.

Acoustic wool: filling is only one part of sound isolation

Acoustic wool is another optional filling that buyers can discuss for a WPC door. Confirm the material, placement and compatibility with the profile. Its presence alone does not establish an acoustic rating for the complete door set.

Sound can travel through perimeter gaps, the bottom clearance and adjoining construction. If a project specifies a measured acoustic performance, ask for evidence for the proposed assembly, including the frame, seals, threshold and hardware. Where necessary, compare a dedicated acoustic door instead of expecting an ordinary interior leaf to meet a studio specification.

Compare finished door sets, not filling names

Use the same door dimensions, profile, finish, frame and hardware when comparing options. Ask the supplier to state the finished leaf weight and the added cost of each proposed configuration. Added weight can affect handling and hardware selection, so confirm that the hinges and installation detail suit the completed leaf.

For moisture-prone interiors, discuss the whole door set: substrate, finish, exposed edges, frame and internal additions. A moisture-resistant WPC profile should not be taken as a guarantee that every optional internal material or accessory has identical moisture behaviour.

A practical enquiry checklist

Send the factory your door model, leaf size and thickness, opening direction, hinge and lock requirements, proposed filling and the purpose behind that choice. Include quantities, room applications, finish references and destination details. Request one representative sample before approving repeated production.

Shenghao Doors in Dongguan, China can discuss hollow WPC door configurations, optional fillings, made-to-size frames, finishes and hardware with project buyers. Confirm the final construction in the written quotation and approved sample.

Frequently asked questions

Is a filled WPC door the same as a solid WPC door? No. Request a section detail so the underlying profile and any additions are clear.

Does acoustic wool automatically make a WPC door soundproof? No. Review evidence for the complete door set if a numerical acoustic requirement applies.

Can I choose different fillings for different rooms? Discuss this at enquiry stage and identify each construction separately on the door schedule.
